I don't have or have ever used on location. But I did have a similar problem a long time ago in FCP 4.5 HD. I don't recall anything specific about the footage I ingested and edited as anything uncommon. They were QT DV files. But when I went to export and sometimes render a sequence, crash city! For some strange reason, when I nested my edited sequence into another new sequence it allowed me to export the "nested" sequence to a final QT mov file. Though I have no idea why it worked. Again, this was in FCP 4.5. Nothing similar has happened since then or now in Studio 2 version.

Just a thought. Good luck,

Dave
