compressor and classic ipod

I have produced a compressed file (using compressor preset) of a short quicktime file which I'd exported from FCP6. I then connected my ipod and lifted the compressed file onto my ipod and it is sitting on the ipod. However, I cannot access the montage on my ipod. What am or have I done wrong?
