My 60GB iPod 5g (video) works fine as a hard drive over USB. No drivers necessary, it's recognized by both my Mac and my Win box. Note that in order for Windows to see the iPod at all it needs to be formatted using FAT32 from a Windows machine, not the Mac format (HFS+). Either that or you need a driver for Windows that lets it read HFS drives.
