The zoom-in and -out effect is produced in After Effects. You can also do it in any program that allows you to key-frame zooms, pans, etc., like Premiere Pro, FCP, Avid, Vegas, etc.

For those visiting this forum and bumping into this thread later, the zoom-in technique allows the audience to get the close-up visual representation of the pertinent areas they need to see while losing the non-important screen areas.

When creating podcasts for a small visual screen like an iPod or a cellphone, this is an important step in giving your audience something worth watching.
