Thanks. That is what I could not find. Setting the windows colours to light grey gives a very usable result.

I noticed that in a lot of the videos about Vegas on youtube the app has plain white for the background so I assume it is not only me that finds the dark grey unworkable.

I don't understand your comment about the Gamma; please would you explain what you mean by "The menu test should be fairly easy to read." Do you mean a test in calibrating the gamma with some other program or a test in Vegas?

The person saying it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
