[doyal gudgel] "The entire program takes about 20 gig as is so it has to be reduced quite a bit it looks like."
What matters is the length in time, not the size of the file. DVD uses MainConcept MPEG2 video and Dolby Digital AC-3 for audio. You can get about 1 hr 20 min on a DVD at the default bit-rate. How long is your project?

You can use a bit-rate calculator to determine what bit-rate to use when rendering or just render to AVI file and drop it into DVD Architect and let DVD Architect fit it onto a DVD for you.

Of course if you are using Movie Studio then just use Make Movie, follow the prompts and let Vegas figure it all out for you.
