So I bought this new camcorder that records in AVCHD or produces it( take your pick) which results in a fabulous picture on a DVD-R in a BD player. That is not what I really want but what I really want is the better quality from some of my source material I now have if I can get it. I made DVD's with my Sony Vegas Platium 9 version. I'd appreciate advice from any of you experts if I can improve over what I made with the usual MPG file. Would it do better for instance, if I import the same source from, say, a DVD made off an original SVHS videotape? I assume a still picture made in high resolution would turn out better. Of course you cant get something out that is not in it already. But if it loses quality in the rendering to mpg over AVCHD then it seems to me it is worth doing it in AVCHD even though the source is no better than the original DVD. It would have to be a noticeable amount to make the extra work worth it.
Thanks in advance for your input.
