Canon XH A 1 camcorder

Hello All:

I would like to upgrade my Canon GL2 to XH A1 to take advantage of HD technology. I have read numerous concerns that the XH A 1 does not communicate efficiently with users PCs. Does XH A 1 communicate efficiently with Vegas 8 capture utility?

I generally render my SD video in the .WMV format. Is there a noticeable improvement in HD video rendered as .WMV?
