Is this
the
Larry Sherwood from the old Discreet Edit days? If so, are you giving Vegas a try these days? The question about how to go to in-out point I will try to address first. In Vegas, I don't think so, because you really don't use in-out points on the timeline. You use the snap-to loop regions. Wherever your cursor is on the timeline is an automatic in point of sorts and then as you hold down the left mouse button and drag you are creating your outpoint. So if you want to mark an outpoint first just put the cursor where you want the outpoint and then drag left to create your in point. I hope that gets you started on that question.
Also, if you need to get to a specific point on the timeline and the loop region isn't helping you then I suggest hitting the M button where you want to mark and Vegas will put a marker there that can be gone to immediately by hitting the the numerical key on your keyboard that corresponds to the marker number. i.e To go to Marker 1 hit the number 1 button.
As to next or previous event commands in Vegas the answer is yes. I have my Q&W keys remapped for previous and next event now so I had to look it up in the manual to see what the original keystroke commands were. In Vegas they are called left by edit and right by edit. The default commands are ctl-alt-left arrow and ctl-alt-right arrow. Now you can see why I changed them to single key strokes.
Let me know if any of this helps or hurts. I don't frequent this particular forum too much so I just now saw your post. Take care.
