How do I import IFO, VMO, and BUP files? Help!

I'm trying to capture footage recorded by a Sony DCR-DVD505. I've never tried to get footage from a DVD into Avid before; usually I work with mini DV camcorders that have a 1394 IEEE hook-up. Being that I don't have any deck from which to capture the DVDs, and that the camcorder doesn't have a firewire hookup, all I've been able to do is attempt to import the data on the disc, which is in IFO VOB and BUP format, and this does not work. Any suggestions?
