Thanks for you quick reply. Have tried your suggestions but to no avail (prob my fault). I r click on clip and go to video options/motion and the slide is already there. If I lost it - I lose the clip altogether on the timeline - there is just a white background. I have effect/distort .. but no transform on my version (6 so very old). If you are able to tell me where I am being stupid, I would be most grateful.
