sound in dv video on premiere 6

hi,
we work with premiere 6 to edit videos of classes we make at school and we havent updated because the editor said for what we do ( cut and paste ) the 6 is the faster.
up until now we used to record onto dv's send the off to him , edit and thats it.
we wanted some peace of mind having always a backup video , so we bought an avchd sony camera , therefore allowing us to have the video in our pc before sending it off. we got the sony vegas 8 as well , and by trying to make his job easier , we tried rendering the videos from avchd to dv avi , and in our pc with premier pr cs3 it worked beautifully , but his with premiere 6 , the sound wasn;t right,you did hear something but apparently not synced and full audio for the whole video.
i did render to pcm uncompressed to 48,44,32 khz and nothing
vegas does not give me another option but pcm unmcpressed , is that the problem? will a plug for him solve it?
