RAM preview will only preview as much as it can store in the RAM ... get more RAM, or preview at half quality ... or just preview in short bits ...

Pictures, photos, graphics etc should be interpreted as Fields OFF ... unless for some reason the still image has come from interlaced video.

Shouldn't make a difference if you render the nest or if you render the comp.
