transforming vector shapes from illustrator into shape layers in AE

I want to transform vector shapes from illustrator into shape layers in AE any one knows how to do that ?
I know of course how to transform vactor shapes from illustrator into masks or motion paths in after effects so don't get me wrong this is different.
