Can´t import .MOD files into AE CS3

Hi, I recently got a JVC Everio GZ-MG27E HDD Camcorder and it's great, but when I try to import the movie files (.MOD extension), After Effects says the file type is not supported.
Renaming the files to .mpg won't work either.
Premiere Pro allows me to import the files, but I need to edit them in After Effects and if I render them as .avi files in premiere, it looks terrible.

Can someone help me?
My system: Windows Vista Business 32 Bit
Pentium IV 3.2 GhZ
1028 MB RAM
ATI RADEON X740XL
After Effects CS3
Premiere Pro CS3.

Any help would be great..
