Thanks Neil, you were absolutely right. Never managed to get the MKIII clips through Log and Transfer – just put it through MPEG Streamclip as 50fps, which took a while. Then put the clips through Cinematools conforming it all to 25fps. Looks fine now. thanks everyone for al your help and advice.
