Steven GladstoneRendering out parts of a clip

Hi, new to Final Cut - I've an hour long clip I want to slice into separate takes, and export them as a separate quicktime movies so someone else can load them into his Final cut system.

I can't figure out how to do this. Dragging into the bin to export ends up getting multiple clips all the length of the original.

Any suggestions, would be appreciated.
