How To Remove .mov Extension?

My last version of FCP exported clips without any file extension, and since upgrading all clips have been exporting with a .mov extension. I would like to stop this, for the sake of continuity and neatness more than anything else, but can't figure out how.
I'd greatly appreciate anyone's help in this matter.
