is my comp powerful enough for 1080 24p?
by jason leue on Jul 9, 2008 at 5:10:37 am

Hi,

I have a Mac Pro 2 x 2.6ghz dual which means I have 4 processors right? and I have 2 gb of ram 667.

I captured some footage from a hv20 by following apples instructions http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306389

(HV20 HDV 24p to ProRes 24p)

I worked fine, i was surprised how small the files are.

When I play the movies in my timeline it'll play for about 3 seconds and then the video pause and the audio keeps going kinda, and I wondering why:

should I:

get more ram?

more processors?

render with a different codec?

render with less res?

My idea was to work at the highest res possible first then export as needed.

The movie will be for web, SD DVD and maybe blu-ray.

thanks
Jason
