That aspect ratio calculator has nothing to do with how compression codecs work. A mathematically correct aspect ratio may be mathematically incorrect for the codec.

Send him the Adobe aspect ratio link and let him know that Adobe engineers have posted it as their Flash aspect ratio specs.
