Thank you for asking...we use FCP 2.0 and Vegas 8 - both via a Black Magic Decklink Extreme HD cards analog composite input...ideally we'd encode to a cross platform file type. In the long run, we expect FCP to supplant Vegas - but perhaps not for a while.
As far as future requirements, we simply want to extract the most "quality" possible from the rather limited original source - without unnecessary lossy effects so we can get rid of these old analog decks finally.
In addition to VHS, SVHS, Hi8, we are capturing some old 3/4 video as well.
Again, thanks for any insight you might have...do you think this question is in the right forum?
