Yes. Card Dance is the easiest way to do this, however it just gives you little squares; not cubes.
You could use the first link Kevin put, but instead of using it to drive layers, use it to drive null objects that are parents of little cubes you've built. It'll take some tedious work to build, but it'll look really cool when you're done.
Of course, Card Dance looks really good too. Did you see what they did with it in Iron Man? Good stuff.
