Flicker in imported AVI files

I have taken motion screen dumps in SnagIt in AVI format. The original dumps look great. But when I import the AVI files into AE, using the original's resolution and frame rate, I suddenly get the most horrific flickering, lags, jumping cursors, you name it. A perfect AVI file looks positively horrible after being imported into AE.

What am I doing wrong?
