Here's the deal about Open GL in AE:

AE supports only a subset of Open GL. This means that you could TRY to create a project that took advantage of Open GL capabilities, but you'd probably include something in the project that would freak out Open GL, rendering the capability useless and leaving you scratching your head.

EVERYONE I know who has flirted with Open GL eventually gives up on it. It isn't worth the bother.

If you find this annoying, consider that Adobe also claims AE will support mp3, mpeg2, mp4, h.264 and m2t files. These are all good belly laughs. Heck, I've been waiting for Adobe to get mp3 support right since AE 3.1. So don't hold your breath on Open GL support.

The moral of this tale is to turn off Open GL and get on with life.
