"then i tweaked the green a little towards yellow, the red a little towards magenta, and blue a lot towards cyan and blend them back together. then you compress the midtones."
If you want to try a 'shortcut' for affecting your footage in this way, try the Color Correction > Channel Mixer effect. You can boost the contribution of every channel to each channel. I hope that makes sense!
