AE BASIC FACT
: The 0,0 point in AE is the extreme upper-left corner, whether you're working with footage or a comp.
It's an important thing to remember.
If you motion track a piece of footage, it uses the coordinates of the footage. If you then place the footage into a much larger comp, it will always go to the upper left hand corner, because the coordinate numbers of the footage are smaller than the cooresponding coordinate numbers of the comp.
To easily center the footage in the new comp, place a null object at the center point of the footage, parent the footage to the null, and move the null to the center point of the comp.
