MPEG-2 is a unique codec and DVD is a unique form of media... put them together and you get a unique sort of mess. You
can
import a 4:3 MPEG-2 and tell DVDSP to stretch it to 16:9 in the track settings, but that's not the 'proper' way to do it. MPEG-2 has a bunch of header information in the video stream, one of which is the aspect ratio. If your footage is 16:9 then you should encode it as a 16:9 MPEG-2. In QuickTime player this 16:9 MPEG-2 will have an odd frame size (720x404) but that is normal and correct.
Technically this won't change the way the video is displayed on
most
set top boxes, but it definitely can change the way it is displayed on computers/software DVD players and perhaps even some set top boxes.
