You just pan/tilt the camera the same direction on two shots and then in post blend them together during the pan/tilt. You're dreaming if you think that anything you do with your buddies could approximate looking that good. They probably had some computer controlled robot camera that can pan at the same speed every time.
Your best bet is to put a lot of motion between your shots so that the cut point gets lost in the confusion.
