Video Game simulation
by Joe Castiglioni on Feb 22, 2008 at 7:27:23 pm

I am doing tests for a spot for a local video game shop where we need to make footage of a guy shopping look like he's a character in a video game.

I've got some ideas:
• Shoot at a higher angle with a wide angle lens
• Have the actor walk in a stiff, unnatural manner
• Posterize Time the footage so it looks like it was shot at a lower frame rate
• Effect the video in some way so it looks (somewhat) like CGI

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to achieve this effect? I got a couple ideas from a previous post, using the "Remove Grain" filter among other things. I've tested various filters in Photoshop, and so far 'Facet' seem to get the closest to what I'm imagining, although there's not a lot of control.

Does anyone have any other ideas?
