Well... thats true, but you can get this effect to some extend. If you put the light perfectly on the right side it wont change anything, or it will make the extrusion black. The etxtrusion is not treated as faces, but simply as a layer with fill and alpha, so it also reacts to lights, but not exactly how you'd like it. If you really really need this effect you have to do it with gradients on a stroke.
