Message text:
After Effects error: Writer Initialization Error
Message interpretation:
While trying to write data to the disk, After Effects was unable to activate the plugin required for a specific format. This mostly affects specially compressed formats such as MPEG-II, MPEG-4 and its derivatives, Flash video, Windows Media and Real Media which use multiple levels of encoding.
Possible causes:
The plugin has the wrong version, is damaged or fails to call external procedures required for it to work (e.g. Quicktime). This can happen due to physical errors on the disk, an install that went wrong or a configuration problem in the external routines. It can also happen if you are trying to use a newer version of a plugin on an older version of After Effects.
Resolution or workaround:
Install the correct version of the plugin and/or adjust the settings. If your disk is damaged, backup your data and use your operating system's tools to analyze and correct the malfunction.
