If you move something far into the distance from the camera and then scale it up to be the same relative size, then there shouldn't be any loss of quality.

There's even an expression in the AE help to scale a 3D layer up to fill the same relative size in the composition's frame while you move it away from the camera:

distance = length(sub(position, cam.position));
scale * distance / cam.zoom;
