Here is what we did to fix this:

We have two hard drives on our machine-- one is for Media 100 that is a mirror of the hard drive for FCP --
(this because the FCP hard drive uses the Kona software, where Media 100 hard drive uses internal Media 100 software for the same Kona card)

Our QT 7.4 update was only on the FCP hard drive side --

So, I erased the FCP drive & reinstalled the OS --
transferred applications & settings from the Media 100 hard drive-- did OS upgrades - installed the Kona software
installed QT 7.3 and I'm up and running again --
yes, it took 6 hrs but I couldn't afford to be down
another day.

I have done my original AE render's and we have had no problems to report.
