If you are able to boot XP 32bit with 4 gb of ram installed, please post details here. I run 3gb on XP, and to my knowledge, you CANNOT get XP 32 bit OS to boot/recognize 4GB of ram, regardless of what "switch" you enable.
Also, Adobe does NOT recommend using XP-64 bit if you're running CS3, I called them and spoke directly to tech support on that one.
If you are going to make this a dedicated workstation you'd probably be smart to buy a MAC and get multiple cores and load it up with RAM. You can always run BootCamp when you need to use your Windows programs....
