Using Mesh Warp to animate still pics?

Hi, I've got several high res stills of CGI animated characters that I'm trying to animate "just enough" for an animatic. Raising their eyebrows, frowning, etc. I'm messing with Mesh Warp to do this, but I wonder if anyone has a better (i.e. less time consuming) idea? Or could I create some kind of Mesh Warp plugin with a slider, etc.? Bit of an AE noob. I have CS3, fyi. Thoughts from the lurking geniuses of these forums gratefully accepted..... ;-D
