i would try the usual tricks...
- delete ae pref file (users/username/library/preferences/adobe/after effects 8.0/after effects pref)
- use disk utility to repair permissions
- use disk utility to check disk (you will need to boot from osx install disk and run disk utility from there if the startup disk needs repair)
if things are still bad...
- run the hardware test (instructions printed on osx install disk). run the extended test.
- uninstall and reinstall cs3.
still luck, call adobe tech support... it will probably be faster than reformatting the drive and doing a clean install of everything, which would be my last suggestion.
