By default After Effects will only use 2 gig of ram even if you have 4 gig using windows 32 bit. There is a little fix so it will use 3 gig of ram. After you back up your boot.ini file, modify the last line to read "/fastdetect/3GB". If done correctly you will see "3 gig of ram" when you start AE in stead of 2 gig.
