You're asking if it's possible to reinvent video information that's no longer available. Without seeing a screen shot, it's tough to say if it can even be done at all.

From personal experience I can tell you that unless you have the original clean footage, you face a tough uphill battle. Your best bet would be to cover it with another kind of graphic.

If you upgraded your operating system recently without doing a clean install, I would say that's the cause of your second problem.
