Yeah that would be a major quality hit, plus good luck recreating the exact flavor of AVCHD footage the friend uses. If this is presumably for editing the two together- any modern NLE will do this step for you and mix accordingly at best possible quality.
Just turn over your DVCPROHD footage as complete copies of the entire card structure from your camera and let them take it from there. Or if you want to be extra nice- convert to a more robust format like DNxHD, CineForm or ProRes- depending on where you're coming from. But finding out a bit more on the why you need this would help.
