A noob with major issues..PLEASE HELP

So I decided to rent the HVX 200 for a project that begins tomorrow. I love the camera, but I have one bad problem..I cannot find a program that will transfer audio that can be listened to and edited (Windows 32 bit Vista). The whole point of renting this camera was because I thought that I would be able to edit on the road because there are time constraints to the project. Does anyone know if there is a program that will merge video footage seamlessly with audio footage. If not, a program that will convert the MVX extension audio to something...WAV, Mp3, FLAC...anything. I hope that one of you who knows will lend me a helping hand because I am exhausted...been working on this for about 4 hours now. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
