Andrea,
You should contact the Panasonic service Center in NJ or LA, they might be able to help you retrieve you footage. You should always have the write protect switch on as the Apple will write stuff to the card as it unloads. This becomes problematic when you have a very full card.
If you are somewhere else in the world contact the Panasonic folks in your country.
