I have been just using the standard FCP green screen keyer.. I know that it does not get rave reviews. I thought that if I could get it to make wonderful keys quickly, than I would know that my green screen stage is lighted correctly and it would be an efficient key stage to do interviews. It is a small stage 9 feet wide, 12 feet high and with about 22 feet of total depth. So I can get the actor about 5 to 10 feet away from the green... Green spill has been a problem that I have mitigated with back lighting.
I played with the Primatt Keyer in Motion and it pulled a really nice key. Fingers where very clean, but the edges were a little rough and the actor turned a little purple... I might be able to adjust all this with a better understanding of Motion and the Primatt Keyer...
I am targeting quick interviews for clients. Come in,turn on the lights, load your speech in the teleprompter, sit or stand, and tell the world what you want them to hear. Then we will Key your images behind you. Quick, clean and simple is my goal.
It just seems that the old days of analog video where you just twisted the dials gain, clip, hue, is still quicker and preferable to this digital workflow. If it wasn't all SD gear, I would turn it on..
