There is always a chance of blowing a channel when plugging gear together... Read the manuals and hire a qualified sound guy..
I watched a friend with 30 years in video blow a channel of his DVCPro deck when he plugged in the audio feed from the sound guy, who was on another contract and boss, claim everything was ok before he had the mics and the speakers feeds all tweaked...
