VariZoom HVX problems

I've got a VeriZoom Rock-PZFI zoom/focus/iris control that I have had less than great results with the HVX200. The L shaped plugs and tight quarters cable cramping make for an insecure fit
and not reliable control. Anyone had success in getting these plugs to work?
