I'm guessing that you want to monitor your footage out of FCP. To do this you need a card like the Kona so that you can get HD out of your system. This would be the best option. For an alternative, you can use an HD monitor like the Apple 23" or Dell 24" and connect it to an extra DVI port (if you have one) and use the Cinema Desktop Display from FCP. That's how I will do it when my Dell gets here today, because it's hard to fit a Kona card in a MacBook Pro!
