Yes the results would be pretty much the same, but different size video. However, the data storage would be different. In 720p 24p, the camera stores only 24 frames per second. In 1080i 24p, the camera spreads the 24 frames over 30 frames, and stores 30 frames per second. There are 2 ways to spread the 24 frames over 30 frames, called 24pN and 24pA (normal and advanced).
