New camera pixel issues

I purchased a new dig camera last week and have come across an odd thing, when pushing the camera to its extreme, (low light, slight flash, zoomed in, 8 second exposure, 400iso, etc) some of the shots clearly show one or two hot bright pixels. When I inspect one pix I can clearly see perhaps 100 individual problem pixels in various colors. I have noise reduction off, and I wonder is this where I went wrong?
I am talking to the camera manufacture but only found this out on late Friday so right now I have to wait for them to evaluate. I will try to recreate this probelm to see if its repeatable but until then, does anyone know if this is an issue which is solved with NR or some other feature I that one should be using when shooting low light?
Thanks.
Chris
