Michael GoraSpry Menu: Unwanted Gaps in Vertical Menu in IE

I just replaced very old vertical menus on two sites with Spry menus. They initially worked fine in Firefox & Safari but didn't show up in IE.

After reviewing some discussion board posts and doing some tweaking, the menus now show up in IE but there is unwanted spacing between menu items, only in IE.

How do I get rid of that spacing?

The sites are http://www.middlebass.org and http://www.mapaa.org.
