Try placing the images outside the paragraphs.

<p><img src="images/image_bentleylogo.png" alt="Quote" width="167" height="99" class="thrColFixHdr" />The background color on this div will only show for the length of the content. </p>

Change to:



<img src="images/image_bentleylogo.png" alt="Quote" width="167" height="99" class="thrColFixHdr" /><p>The background color on this div will only show for the length of the content. </p>

Also, look at the definition of the problem in the adobe page:
