Rob,
Would it be possible to skip the publish and instead just create the SWF? If you are publishing to SWF and HTML, the HTML you had before will still work so long as the SWF filename remains the same. Just do a CTRL-ENTER to "test" your project. If your flash file opens, it will have created a new SWF in your working directory (where the FLA is stored). Then put that SWF in the same directory as the HTML and it should work. If it doesn't, you can edit the HTML and look for references to the filename (I think there are four references) and either change the filename of your swf to match, or change the references in the HTML.
Of course, this is all assuming that you're publishing swf and html.
